"The latter splendor of this house shall be greater than the former... and in this place I will give prosperity." (Haggai 2:9)

Haggai encourages the discouraged returned exiles rebuilding the temple, promising that God's Spirit remains among them and that the new temple's glory will exceed the old. It is a word of courage to a people who see only a modest, unimpressive project.
