"As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him." (Colossians 2:6-7)

Paul warns the Colossians against being taken captive by hollow philosophy and human tradition, insisting that the fullness of deity dwells in Christ bodily and that believers already share in that fullness. In the optional verses he warns against letting anyone judge them by ritual observances that were only a shadow of what has come in Christ.
