"The Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans." (Romans 8:26)

Paul pictures all creation groaning as in childbirth while it waits for redemption, and believers waiting in hope for the fullness of adoption. The Spirit sustains them in that waiting, interceding for them when they do not know how to pray.
