Paul opens his letter to the Galatians by defending his apostleship as coming directly from Jesus Christ and God the Father, not from any human source. He expresses astonishment that the Galatians are abandoning the true gospel for a distortion and pronounces a curse on anyone, even an angel, who preaches a different gospel.
