Overview & Insights

"You are my Son; today I have begotten you... Blessed are all who take refuge in him." (Psalm 2:7, 12)

This royal psalm has God install his king on Zion and declare him his son, promising him the nations as his heritage, and warns earthly rulers to serve the Lord with fear and pay homage to the son before his wrath is kindled. The early church heard this psalm behind the voice at Jesus' baptism and Transfiguration, and Acts and Hebrews both quote it directly of Jesus.
