The Lord's Prayer and the Persistent Friend

"Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you." (Luke 11:9)
A disciple asks Jesus to teach them to pray, and Jesus gives them a short, direct prayer followed by a parable about a friend who persists in asking at midnight. He concludes that if imperfect parents give good gifts to their children, God will far more surely give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.
