"But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit." (Romans 7:6)

Using marriage as an analogy, Paul explains that death to the law frees believers to belong to the risen Christ, and he defends the law as holy while showing how sin used the commandment to bring about death.
