"...yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ." (Galatians 2:16)
Paul explains to Peter, and to the Galatians, that both Jews and Gentiles are made right with God through faith in Christ rather than by keeping the law. He describes his old self as crucified with Christ, so that the life he now lives is lived by faith in the Son of God who loved him and gave himself for him.
