"And all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces." (Luke 9:17)

Jesus welcomes the crowds, heals and teaches them, and when evening comes takes five loaves and two fish, looks to heaven, blesses and breaks the bread, and feeds them all with abundance left over, the same fourfold action of taking, blessing, breaking, and giving that Corpus Christi hears again at the altar.
