"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel" (Isaiah 7:14).

The Lord offers King Ahaz a sign of deliverance through the prophet Isaiah, promising that a child named Immanuel, God with us, will be born. The church reads this sign as pointing forward to Christ's birth.
