Luke traces the last day of Jesus' life from the Last Supper and Gethsemane through his arrest, trial before the council, Pilate, and Herod, to his crucifixion, death, and burial. Distinctive to Luke are Jesus' words of forgiveness for his executioners, his promise of paradise to the criminal beside him, and his final, trusting commendation of his spirit to the Father.
