"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

Jesus invites the weary to take his easy yoke and find rest for their souls, a promise the Church has long read over the grief of mourners. Among the many alternate Gospels the Mass for the Dead allows, the most familiar is Luke's raising of the widow of Nain's son, followed by John's raising of Lazarus.
