"For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45)
James and John ask to sit at Jesus' right and left in glory, and Jesus tells them they do not know what they are asking and must share his cup and baptism. When the others grow indignant, Jesus teaches that greatness in his kingdom means becoming a servant, for he himself came to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
