"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1)

The author defines faith as confidence in what is hoped for and unseen, then traces how Abraham and Sarah lived by that faith, leaving home for a land and a promise they would not fully see fulfilled. They died still seeking a better, heavenly homeland that God had prepared for them.
