Jesus Casts Out a Demon and Heals in Capernaum

"What kind of utterance is this? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and out they come!" (Luke 4:36)
In the Capernaum synagogue Jesus rebukes an unclean spirit and it leaves the man unharmed, astonishing the crowd with his authority. He then heals Simon's mother-in-law of a high fever and many others brought to him at sundown, before withdrawing to a deserted place and moving on to preach in other towns.
