"For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins... was buried... and was raised on the third day." (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
Paul reminds the Corinthians of the gospel he first preached to them, a tradition he himself received: that Christ died for sins, was buried, was raised on the third day, and appeared to Peter, the Twelve, over five hundred believers, James, and finally Paul himself. He calls himself the least of the apostles, unfit even to be called one, yet transformed by God's grace.
