"The night of the passover was made known beforehand to our fathers, that they, with sure knowledge of the oaths in which they trusted, might have courage" (Wisdom 18:6).

The sage reflects on the first Passover night, when Israel's ancestors, forewarned, kept watch in faith and courage while offering sacrifice in secret, foreshadowing this Sunday's call to watchful readiness.
