Overview & Insights

"For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition that I made to him. Therefore I have lent him to the LORD." (1 Samuel 1:27-28)

After years of grief over her childlessness, Hannah's prayer at Shiloh is answered with the birth of Samuel. True to her vow, she brings the boy to the tabernacle once he is weaned and gives him over to the LORD's service, a fitting parallel to Mary and Joseph presenting Jesus.
