“I was no prophet... but the Lord took me from following the flock, and the Lord said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’” (Amos 7:14-15)
The priest Amaziah orders Amos to stop prophesying at Bethel and to go earn his bread back in Judah. Amos answers that he is no professional prophet but a herdsman whom the Lord called and sent to Israel.
